Pedestrian Unharmed in Attempted Drive-By Shooting

Multiple vehicles were struck during the shooting but no injuries were reported.

A Union City man escaped harm during an attempted drive-by shooting Thursday afternoon. 

According to Cmdr. Ben Horner, officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots fired on Ithaca Street near the Hayward border.

Officers located an uninjured victim who said he was walking down the street when a car drove up and a passenger opened fire.

The victim, however, refused to cooperate further with investigators, Horner said.

“We’re not sure if it was a random attack or if it was targeted,” Horner said.

Multiple vehicles were struck during the shooting but bullets did not enter any homes, Horner said.
