Suspect Sought for Indecent Exposure, And More From Union City Police

The following is a summary of significant crime and incidents reported in Union City between June 6 and June 11 as released by the Union City Police Department. Reports have been lightly edited for Patch style.

Indecent Exposure on Union City Boulevard: The Union City Police Department is currently investigating a series of indecent exposure cases. The suspect has targeted older and elderly female victims at two specific parks located off of Union City Boulevard (Mariner’s Park and Veteran’s Park). One of the last reported incidents occurred on Sunday, June 16 at 9:07 a.m. The victim was walking near Mariner Park when she saw an adult male standing at the intersection of Mackinaw Street and Dorado Street, exposing his penis. The victim walked away from the suspect and reported the incident when she returned home. A composite sketch and informational bulletin have been attached to the Police Blotter. Redwood City Carjacking Ends in Union City: On Friday, June 14 at 10:55 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Union Landing complex to assist Redwood City Police Department with a reported carjacking. Responding officers located the victim in the complex. The victim said he had been sprayed with pepper spray, was kidnapped from Redwood City, and driven to Union City by three females. The victim said the females then stole his vehicle. Redwood City Police Department responded to investigate the incident.

Don’t Park in a “No Parking” Zone if You Have Drugs, Ammo and Meth in Your Car: On Friday June 14 at 1:26 p.m., Sergeant Mendez contacted a male and female sitting inside of a vehicle at the top of Appian Way. The vehicle was parked in a posted “no parking” zone. One of the occupants was on felony probation and subject to being searched at any time. During the investigation, Sergeant Mendez located 10 ounces of marijuana packed for sales, a large amount of currency, burglary tools, methamphetamine, and live ammunition. Both of the occupants were arrested and transported to jail.

Armed Robbery at Union City Wireless: On Saturday June 15 at 10:55 a.m., two suspects committed an armed robbery at the Union City Wireless store, located at 32113 Alvarado Boulevard. Two black males entered the business and demanded money and electronics from five victims inside the store. One of the suspects brandished a semiautomatic firearm at the victims during the incident. The victims in this incident ranged from 12 years to 49 years old. The suspects were described as black males, 20 to 25 years old, 5 foot 10 to 6 feet tall, with medium builds. Bomb Squad Called for Suspicious Packages on Dyer Street: On Saturday June 15 at 6:45 p.m. officers responded to investigate some suspicious packages at the Island Pacific Market on Dyer Street. Officers spoke with witnesses in the area and decided to close off Dyer Street. Officers also evacuated surrounding businesses as a precaution. The Alameda County Sheriff Office’s EOD (bomb squad) Team responded to investigate the packages. The Alameda County Sheriff Office’s EOD Team decided to use a water charge to safely detonate the items. The suspicious packages turned out to contain standard household items. No other concerning items were located during the investigation.
