After more than 50 years of service, the Union City Fire Department consolidated into the Alameda County Fire…More Department in July 2010. Fortunately, the crews and stations remained in tact in order to provide the city with adequate service.</p> <p>Union City Fire Prevention now contracts ACFD's services. There are four stations in Union City staffed by 12 firefighters and equipped with seven fire trucks and engines in total, two of which are used to combat wildland fires. Built in 2009, Alameda County Fire Department Station 33 serves Union City's Decoto District. Formerly Union City…More Fire Station 3, this is the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified green building in the city. The station is staffed by three fighters--a captain, an engineer and a fighter, one of whom is also a paramedic. The station also has two fire engines, one of which is equipped with four-wheel drive to fight wildland fires.</p> <p> </p>
