We have to make people aware that our State is run by public employee Unions and we need court casesRead More like today which ruled that the California Teacher Tenure rules are unconstitutional so that we can change laws and vote people out of office who do not represent the interests of the public who pay the taxes.

Something that is interesting to note is that high school grads are going to four year universitiesRead More and studying subject that isn't marketable. While on the other hand you have people getting vocational training at vocational schools that essentially guarantees them a job out of school that will make them 'x' amount of money. So it isn't that college degrees are worthless, some are. It is also said that sometimes trade school is the right choice! Makes sense. As long as we keep eroding and buffering the standards , our Politicians and SchoolRead More Boards will one day have a 100% Graduation Certificate to hang on their "I Love Me" walls!! Truth is , we as a nation spend more money per student than any other Nation in the world on primary education only to have our "graduates" rank 14th in the world......right behind Iceland. So before we run around the building and shake hands with ourselves, maybe we should take a moment to ponder some new innovations in education and stop throwing money into an endless pit!

What a great program! A win-win situation for both businesses that want to make their community moreRead More academically rich and the schools which can use the help of sponsors and build a bridge with the local businesses! I know that my clinic is looking forward to partnering with this program!

Lived here over twenty years. Saw our population grow from 59,000 to what it is today, aroundRead More 70,000. One of the selling points to move here was the district's education system. We had multiple "Distinguished Schools" . Families were happy and so were the teachers/employees of the district. Now it isn't so. Teachers are getting fired, positions eliminated and of course, furlough days. Yes, the budget has something to do with it, but how can you allow someone to have a golden parachute"

John is absolutely correct. We already pay property taxes that go directly to the NHUSD through theRead More Alameda County tax collector. I am dead set against any parcel tax, which is a flat dollar amount without regard to size or value of the property. If additional taxes are needed and justified (which is debatable) then it should be as a PERCENTAGE of the assessed value and NOT a regressive, flat amount which disproportionately impacts lower income people in lower valued properties.

So they awaken the Sleeping Dog. NO MORE TAXES!
Union City Resident September 18, 2013 at 08:30 pm
NO, how much more plainly can that be said? We've gone above and beyond in our community. taxesRead More are for people who can't live within a budget. If we make it easier to pass, they will have bonds and taxes for everything. Forget it and learn to live within the budget and stop giving lifetime medical to Superintendents who only serve 5 years. You are not good stewards with our money and we don't trust you with more.
