Built in 1999, the City of Union City's Public Works Maintenance Facility was one of the first public facilities in California to be designated as an official Bay Area Green Business for its conservation and waste reduction practices. The 11-acre facility is home to the Building and Grounds, Fleet and Streets Divisions. Union City Transit buses are also parked here. The facility features a selve-serve compressed natural gas station, open to the public 24 hours a day, located near the front of the facility for those using compressed natural gas as an atlernative to gasoline.
