This Week in Union City: Fitness Store Grand Opening; Flea Market

Heads up! Here are five events taking place in and around Union City this week that you don’t want to miss.

Whole Foods Grand Opening

The Fremont Whole Foods Market, located at 3111 Mowry Ave. in Fremont, will celebrate its grand opening this Wednesday with a bread-breaking ceremony at 9:45 a.m. The store will open at 10 a.m. The first 250 shoppers will receive a gift bag stuffed with the store’s signature items.

Girl Scout Information Night

Curious about the Girl Scouts? Learn everything you need to know Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Niles Elementary School, 37141 Second St. in Fremont's Niles district. The informational meeting is being hosted by the Coyote Hills Service Unit of Fremont, Union City and Newark. 

SAVE's 11th Annual Eye Opener Breakfast

Help support SAVE (Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments) -- a critical community organization providing a variety of services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence -- this Friday at their annual breakfast fundraiser. The event will explain the different ways the community is impacted by domestic violence and how victims can become survivors. It will be held at 7:30 a.m. at the Newark/Fremont Hilton (39900 Balentine Dr. in Newark). Tickets are $75.

On the Ground MMA and Fitness Shop Grand Opening

Celebrate the grand opening of On the Ground, a boutique specializing in MMA and fitness equipment, this Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. The store is located at 31080 Union City Blvd., Suite #102. There will be a storewide 10 percent sale throughout the day.

Flea Market at Alvarado Elementary School
