Union City Pioneer Genealogical Database

Looking over the different early families of Alvarado and Decoto, it is hard not to notice that a number of the well known early families intermarried. Clara Hawley, daughter of James Hawley of Alvarado married George Patterson of Ardenwood farm. August May Jr. married Jenny Decoto. John Olson married Mary Joyce. I.V. Ralph married Alice Blacow. For more interesting family connections, Ebenezer Herrick Dyer married Marion Ingalls. Ebenezers' brother Ephriam, married Ellen Ingalls, the sister of Marion. When Marion Dyer drowned, Ebenezer married the other Ingalls sister, Olive.

Keeping track of the interconnections between families can be interesting. To keep it well organized and to keep information on all of the early families of Union City, the Museum of Local History has created the Union City Pioneer Genealogical Database. The database is a single GEDCOM file, the standard file used to store genealogical information. The file lists 340 persons and covers 32 families.

The database should be able to be read by most genealogical software. If you don't have any, GenealogyJ (GenJ), an free open-source genealogical program is highly recommended and was the software used to create the database. GenJ requires that you have Java installed, which is free from www.java.com. GenJ is found at the following location:
