High Command detected a Portal at the summit of Mission Peak in nearby Fremont, neither the Fremont Resistance or Enlightened forces have claimed it so High Command gave the ok to go into the territory and set up an Observation Post.
I found a hiking group to blend in with to avoid detection from local Resistance forces and met them at the base of Mission Peak at the Stanford Ave. staging area, the trail map showed a 3 mile hike up to the summit so I took a deep breath and began the hike.
The consistent 45 degree incline made for a challenging hike and wore down my ankles and knees, the wind kicked up about 2 miles up and made me glad I had brought a sweatshirt along for the hike, nonetheless the group persevered and only stopped twice for water and a breather.
The top
Once I reached the summit I started setting up and deployed an L7 Resonator to claim the neutral Portal, once it was fully powered I proceeded to hack and acquired a Portal Key in the first cache but unfortunately it was the only Key I acquired before the Portal heated up and had to reset from burning out.
Afterwards, I took recon photos of the Tri-Cities (Fremont, Newark, Union City) as well as the East - looking at the rolling hills of Sunol - to bring back to High Command.
Mission Accomplished
Overall the mission was a success and it has inspired other Enlightened Agents to make the pilgrimage to the top, we only hope the Resistance doesn’t attack the Portal and claims it for their Faction anytime soon, if they do, we’ll be Recharging…Curious to see more adventures of 'Agent SeV3rity'?
