ALVARADO SCHOOL

The first school in Alvarado, the first county seat of Alameda County, was private and established in 1853.  It was soon changed to a public school and the current "modern" school building was erected in 1924.  The District Superintendent was Leslie Maffey; Trustees were Manuel Goularte, clerk, George Hocking, president and Wilbert Hendricks.  Today, the school is quite active and has won numerous awards.
