Children from as far as Santa Rosa made their way to Union City's on Wednesday to learn soccer techniques from Major League Soccer team San Jose Earthquakes.
The event brought players Justin Morrow, Alan Gordon, Chris Leitch, and assistant coach Mark Watson to the field. Once assembled, the children, ranging in age from 6 to 12 years, got an opportunity got an introduction to the players and were split up into four groups to do drills and learn pointers. There was also an autograph session after the clinic.
Victor Juarez, the director of coaching for the Union City Premier Soccer Club, was on hand to take in the sights during Wednesday's clinic.
"The opportunity to have exposure to professional soccer players is huge," Juarez said. "They're helping with the philosophy we're teaching every day: good sportsmanship, a healthy lifestyle and always giving a hundred percent."
