Sponsor Booths Still Available for Carnival of Thanks

The New Haven Boosters Association's Carnival of Thanks and Chili Cook-Off will be held Sunday, Nov. 6 in the James Logan High School parking lot.

The New Haven Boosters Association is inviting families to celebrate and help raise funds for the school district’s many heralded afterschool programs this weekend.

The Carnival of Thanks will be held Sunday, Nov. 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the parking lot and will feature a variety of game and food booths, a talent show and raffle prizes. The event is part of a pledge made by the to raise $100,000 to help pay for sports, band, colorguard, forensics and other activities next school year.

Though the event is coming up fast, there’s still time to sponsor a booth, according to a New Haven Unified School District newsletter. Those interested in sponsoring a booth is asked to contact Natalie Haney at nathaney@gmail.com or 510-599-2621.

Several groups have already signed up for booths, according to Michael Ritchie of the New Haven Boosters Association.

Logan cheerleaders will man a face-painting booth and a bean bag toss game. The girls’ softball team will operate a bounce house.

For those with a competitive spirit, the track and field and cross-country teams are sponsoring a 40-yard dash, broad jump and other competitions. Logan’s football program, whose varsity team is undefeated so far this season, will hold a passing contest.

To raise funds for the wrestling program, the wrestling team will be serving up hamburgers, hot dogs, linguisa and drinks.

Sunday’s event will also include a chili cook-off.

Put your family’s recipe to the test for a chance to win a cash prize.

The cook-off entry fee is $25 for adults and $10 for students.
