’s Pete Quesinberry is one of about 75 California teachers honored yesterday by on “A Day Made Better.”
Office Max representatives visited the school this morning to present Mr. Quesinberry with more than $1,000 in classroom supplies. He received a rolling leather chair and a huge gift box that included a digital camera, a color printer and dozens of other items.
Principal Alberto Solorzano and members of his staff joined District Manager Kevin Barnett, Union Landing Store Manager Mike Goodrick and other Office Max representatives to surprise Mr. Quesinberry in front of his students.
“Pete has always looked for challenges, and this past year he changed his grading system to allow for students to be measured for what they mastered,” Mr. Solorzano said. “He also pushed students every day to learn new concepts in algebra. His pass rate was 95 percent, and he continues to execute strategies that help all learn algebra. He also opened up his classroom during his lunch to allow for interventions as well as after school.”
Office Max also brought about 20 boxes filled with classroom supplies donated by customers since the start of school. The supplies will be divided into deliveries for each of the District’s schools.
This is the fifth year that Office Max has sponsored “A Day Made Better.” Nationwide, with about 1,200 teachers being honored.
