New State Report on Physical Fitness: A Third of New Haven Teens Out of Shape
According to the 2009-10 California Physical Fitness Report, more than 30 percent of seventh and ninth graders in Union City are not meeting fitness goals. The number is only slightly better than state and county averages.
Roughly one out of every three tweens and teens in Union City can't hang with state standards for aerobic exercise, according to a report released Thursday by the California Department of Education.
The good news: Union City's fifth-, seventh- and ninth-grade students are doing slightly better on average than those in Alameda County and in the state overall.
State Superintendent released the 2009-2010 report on California Physical Fitness Report for grades 5, 7 and 9.
