New Haven Boosters, Schools Foundation to Hold Fundraising Meeting

The meeting to strategize fundraising efforts will be held Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Educational Services Center.

From the New Haven Unified School District:

The New Haven Schools Foundation and the New Haven Boosters Association will launch an effort Tuesday night to meet or exceed in 2012-13 the fund-raising effort that helped save co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in the New Haven Unified School District in 2011-12.

Students, parents and community members are invited to join Foundation members and Boosters to strategize fund-raising options during a 7 p.m. meeting at the Educational Services Center, 34200 Alvarado-Niles Road. Childcare and refreshments will be provided.

Last year, after the District was forced because of state budget cuts to reduce support for after-school activities, the Foundation and the Boosters raised and donated $100,000 to help fund stipends for the coaches and advisers who oversee athletics, marching band, choir, forensics and other programs. The groups have made another $100,000 pledge for 2012-13 – in fact, they are hoping to raise an additional $25,000 – and they are looking for volunteers to join the effort.

The Foundation, a registered non-profit that supports the Boosters’ efforts, also is accepting direct donations for the cause. Checks can be made out to New Haven Schools Foundation and mailed to 33377 Western Ave., Union City, 94587.
