"The Performing Arts Center allows for more than we could have done in the Pavilion: it's a real theater," said Patricia Hurtado, associate director of Logan's band program. "You can have fun with lighting and sounds and there can be so much production."

The show will also feature singing by Logan's chamber singers, show choir, jazz singers and concert choir. The band's brass, wind symphony, jazz band and percussion will play a variety of pieces in accompaniment. Percussion will perform their own take on "The Little Drummer Boy." The audience will be invited to join in on the grand finale, "The Holiday Pop Sing Along."

Both programs are known for their excellence in performance. The band went to China in 2008 to take part in the Beijing Olympic Orchestra, while choir went to the Heritage Festival in Anaheim in 2009, winning first place in their respective divisions.

The Spectacular is a follow-up to May's Show of Shows, also held in the Center for the Performing Arts.

Both programs have been working long and hard for this show. According to Hurtado, the last few weeks have been spent piecing together the wind symphony's work since October and choir's work since September.

"It makes sense to work together," said Hurtado, when asked why band joined forces with choir. "The grand piano is for all of us, so we're working together to raise funds and collaborate on something special."

The proceeds will go toward the school's final payment of the in the Center for the Performing Arts, purchased this fall for $70,000.
