Score another one for the James Logan High School wrestling team.
Junior Jacob Macalolooy won big over the weekend at the California Grade State Championship in Lemoore, bringing home the first place title in the junior division.
At 140 pounds, he entered the state tournament with a 45-8 record and 18 pins. He added four more wins to his record during the state tournament.
The victory earns Jacob entry and an all-expense paid trip to the FLO Nationals wrestling tournament at Indiana University in Pennsylvania from April 5-7. If Jacob places in the top eight of the 64-man collegiate tournament, he’ll receive all-American honors, according to Logan head varsity coach Luke Santos.
But Jacob wasn’t the only Logan wrestler holding it down on the mat.
Fellow juniors Jacob Donato and Raymond Monela also won big, snagging second and third place, respectively.
Felix Bonavente placed fifth, with a handful of other wrestlers making rank.
Here’s a full list of local wrestlers who competed in the state championships, via Coach Santos:
Daniel Baca (7th place)
Austin Chan (round of 12)
Rico Morini (round of 12)
Roland Bautista (6th place)
Nico Blanco (round of 12)
Jacob Macalolooy (Champion)
Jacob Donato (2nd place)

And while we’re proud of the boys, let’s not forget the girls.
The Lady Colts wrestling team, which was only formed two years ago, placed fourth in a state tournament last month. It was their second time making it to the state tournament, according to parents.
