Logan to Host Olympic Track and Field Clinic Next Month

The Olympian-led clinic will be held Saturday, Feb. 2.

From the New Haven Unified School District:

Olympic veterans Dick Fosbury, Mike Powell, Eddie Hart and Reynaldo Brown will be among those in attendance Saturday, Feb. 2 for the annual Willie Davenport Olympian Track and Field Clinic at James Logan High School.

The clinic, organized by Logan Coach Lee Webb, will include instruction from Olympians and U.S. and world champions in all events. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the clinic continues until 4:30 p.m. A post-event reception is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza.

Registration fee is $20 for individuals ($10 for children 10 and under) and $350 for teams of fewer than 50 athletes ($500 for teams of 50 or more). New Haven students can register for $5. More information is available from Coach Webb (lwebb@nhusd.k12.ca.us or 304-7172).

Coach Webb also announced that the Mission Valley Track and Field Club, which serves athletes in Union City and beyond, has started practice. Workouts are from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Logan High track. Signup information is available from Coach Webb.
