Logan Sports Teams On a Hot Streak This Fall

The 2011 fall season is one of the best in James Logan High School's history, says athletic director

It's not just 's football team that's having a stellar fall season — girls water polo, girls tennis and the cross country teams are also winning big.

“This has to be one of the best fall league seasons in the history of Logan athletics,” said Athletic Director Tom Rosenthal in a district newsletter. “Football has pretty much always been strong in league play, but the success in the other sports, especially our girls sports, is unprecedented.”

Last weekend, with an undefeated 9-0 record. The team is also ranked second in the North Coast Section.

The team's victory came just a week after . And their hot streak isn't showing any signs of cooling — the girls opened the NCS playoffs Saturday with an 8-5 win over California High on Saturday. The team, which has a 22-3 record and are ranked fourth in the NCS, play against rival Washington in the quarterfinal round tonight at Miramonte High in Orinda.

The girls tennis team is also on a roll this season with a 15-4 record and No. 9 NCS ranking. The team plays Redwood High in Larkspur today in a first-round match.

The girls volleyball team tied with Irvington for the MVAL title this season. Ranked No. 7 with a 23-12 record, the team squares off against San Leandro at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Logan's Guy Emanuele Pavilion.

The boys and girls cross country teams also have undefeated 6-0 records. They compete in the MVAL finals on Thursday at Coyote Hills.

Last but not least, the girls gymnastics team finished second in the MVAL with a 4-1 record.
