Local Realtors Hold Third Grade Essay Contest
Sunil Sethi, who leads an annual dictionary drive, is hosting another essay contest for district third graders. This year's topic is on healthy eating habits.

There’s a big push in Union City to get kids to think about their bodies and a local real estate firm, Sunil Sethi Real Estate, interested in driving up home prices, is helping by sponsoring an Essay Challenge. They are encouraging students in the 3rd grade to write about their healthy eating habits and habits they’d like to improve.
“There’s a growing movement to get kids to eat better because it translates not only into superior health and the ability to concentrate, but also allows kids to focus on activities for a longer period of time,” said Sunil Sethi, realtor.

“Last year we had kids think about their future goals and this year we want them to think about how foods affect their body,” answered Steven Fong, fellow realtor and former New Haven Unified instructor.
We’re hoping the kids will read the essays by their peers to see what else they could incorporate into their diets. Hopefully the essays will inculcate new ideas, they’ll reassess what foods will give them the energy they need to be able to concentrate on their studies, improve their immune system, and provide energy to last the whole day.

Last year about 16% of the 3rd grade student population in New Haven Unified participated in the essay contest; this year our goal is to get to 20% participation.
Each student who submits an essay will get a commemorative prize.
The essay challenge is being sponsored by the Sunil Sethi and Steven Fong of Sunil Sethi Real Estate, by the Office of County Supervisor Richard Valle, who represents the 2nd district in Alameda County, by Risha Kilaru of Prospect Mortgage, and by Kristie Turner of Kristie Turner Insurance Agency.
