How to Use Patch This School Year

Five things principals, educators, PTA members, and parents in the Tri-Cities need to know about Patch.

The school year is just about to get underway and each Patch site in the Tri-Cities will be there to cover all the big news.

But we can’t do it without your help.

To make sure you get the most out of Patch this school year, we invite you to get active in the news-gathering process. There are five things you can do to make sure your school and its students get all the coverage they deserve from Patch:

1. Let us know about big events and accomplishments — If you have a school-related story idea you’d like us to cover, let us know about it! Send us a news tip with details and who we should contact for more information about the story idea. Email nika.megino@patch.com and zoneil.maharaj@patch.com.

2. Add your event listings — Have an upcoming band performance? Is your school hosting an open house? Just add the news to our Events calendar. Click the city's name to be directed to the right Patch: Fremont, Newark and Union City. We invite you to add calendar events for your school, its extracurricular activities, clubs, PTA and more.

3. Post your announcements — Want to let us know about a student, school or teacher accomplishment? Let everyone hear the news by posting your own announcements and photos. Click the city's name to be directed to the right Patch: FremontNewark and Union City.

4. Add your photos to our galleries – Throughout the school year we’ll be out gathering lots of photos of students and their activities. Be sure to add your own photos to our event-related galleries and share your memories with everyone. Click the city's name to be directed to the right Patch: FremontNewark and Union City

5. Sign up for the newsletter — Want to find out what’s happening in area schools? Keep up with Patch every morning by signing up for our newsletter. We’ll mail you the top headlines every morning. Click the city's name to be directed to the right Patch: FremontNewark and Union City

You can also become a blogger and share your school's news directly with Patch readers on a regular basis. Click the city's name to be directed to the right Patch: Fremont, Newark and Union City

Editor's note: Links for Fremont Patch will not be active until Aug. 23.

Well first the parents have to know about "Patch", most don't know about you guys. I spread the word and tell them that I get my news from Union City Patch. Maybe you guys can ask the New Haven USD to send a newsletter to take home with the kids so that the parents can be informed.

Hi Mona, New Haven has a paid publicist -- ex-Argus Editor. NUSD has chosen to invest this expenditure in our kids. Still, NUSD school info may be found on the NUSD web site or through School Loop. Again, we don't have a full time webmaster s the info may not be as timly as you wish but it's there. Finally, parents and students have grown fond of School Loop as events, messages, as well as grades and other student assessment is available. And as always, you can always contact your favorite board member ;). Take care.
