New Haven 'Taking Care of Our Kids' Community Meeting

A committee has formed, “Taking Care of Our Kids” chaired by former Union City Vice-Major, current President and Founder of Tri-CED recycling, Richard Valle, to help the New Haven Unified School District pass the just approved parcel tax for the New Haven School District.  A community meeting will take place next Monday, 5:30-7:00PM, February 7, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Union City.

The purpose of the meeting is to sign-up and organize folks willing to work to work on the campaign to pass the parcel tax.  The funds from the four-year, $15 per month parcel tax ($180 per year) with exemptions for seniors and disable will be used by the school district to pay for programs cut or reduced by the state budget crisis, including class size reduction program, ‘co-curricular programs’ (band, sports, speech and debate, drama, color guard, etc.) and keeping the reduction to the total school year as short as possible.  For more information on the meeting, call 510 471-4714.
