Homes For Sale Near Transit In The Tri-City, Castro Valley Region

Studies have indicated homes near trains, buses and other transportation have higher values than houses that aren't close to transit

If a home is near a BART station or a bus stop, it's likely to have a higher value than a house that isn't.

Several studies this year have concluded a nearby transit stop will boost the price of a home.

These studies focused on metropolitan areas where mass transit is more readily available and more in demand than in suburban areas.

However, with this week's contract negotiations for both BART and AC Transit employees, we thought we'd take a look at some of the houses for sale in this region that are near transit.

It's 1,212 square feet and sits on a seventh of an acre. It's listed at $459,000.

In Union City, this four-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home at 34890 Travertine Way is within a few blocks of the BART station.

It's 1,988 square feet and sits on a tenth of an acre. It's listed at $699,950.

In Newark, this three-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 35926 Ruschin Drive is close to Newark Boulevard and its bus routes.

It's 1,365 square feet and sits on a seventh of an acre. It's listed at $499,000.
