FAJ, COR to Host District Supervisor Candidates Forum on Saturday

The forum will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Paddy's Coffee House in Union City.

With only a few days left to Election Day Communities Organizing for Renewal (COR) and Filipino Advocates for Justice (FAJ) are hosting an election forum Saturday, November 3rd, 10:30am, at Paddy’s Cafe in Union City, 3900 Smith Street at Watkins St.

Local clergy leaders will urge voters to participate in the democratic process. Clergy from congregations through-out South Alameda County will include Reverend Drew Nettinga (UCC), Pastor Adrian Bonaro (Epiphany Lutheran), Deacon Dennis Davis (St Leander’s), Minister Joe Robinson (Faith Bible Fellowship), as well as many others, who will call on residents to vote on ALL of their values this November 6th.

“It’s really crucial that we get out there and vote. If we don’t, there will be a roll-back in funding for Medicaid, education, civil rights; everything we’ve fought for,” said Minister Joe Robinson of Faith Bible Fellowship in Newark, CA. “They want you to believe that your vote doesn’t count, and we focus so much Nationally, but it’s the local races for Supervisor and senate, and of course the local propositions, where our votes are most impactful.

“We have a right and a responsibility as people of faith and as Americans to vote. We have to be involved—we must.”

All four candidates for Board of Supervisor District 2-- Mark Green, Mary Hayashi, and Mark Turnquist, Richard Valle--will be present to speak about their vision for District 2.

COR and FAJ with help from the League of Women Voters will review each of the 11 State propositions on the ballot to help citizens understand what is at stake with each ballot measure.
