City, Chamber Release ‘Enjoy Fremont’ Restaurant and Hotel App

Users can search for places to dine and lodge, filter searches by preference, look up directions and more on your smart phone.

Are you in the mood for a particular type of cuisine, but not sure where to find it in Fremont? Well, there’s a new smart phone app to help you.

The City of Fremont and Fremont Chamber of Commerce’s new “Enjoy Fremont” restaurant and hotel guide app makes sure users get the full local experience.

"We recognize that our tech savvy base of Silicon Valley residents, office workers, and visitors are increasingly making real-time decisions about how and where to spend their money,” said Kelly Kline, Economic Development Director for the City of Fremont, in a statement.  “In the same way that the City has embraced social media and open government, Fremont is poised to capture more business through the deployment of a Smartphone App."

Available for free on both iPhone and Android platforms, the Enjoy Fremont app features a mobile directory with detailed descriptions of participating business.

Users can search for nearby hotel and dining options, call businesses directly through the app, map driving directions, filter searches based on their preferences and find local deals, as well as find up-to-date event information, according to the product description on the Apple App Store.

Each of the business listings include locations, phone numbers and website information. Members of the Fremont Chamber have the added benefit of expanded descriptions and photos, according to a press release from the Chamber.

“The app will provide critical information to help users find the perfect restaurant or hotel to fit their need,” Fremont Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Cindy Bonior noted in a press release.

Future updates will include more features such as coupons and listings for retail merchants, Bonior added.

The app is available now in the Google Play Store and the iPhone App Store.

Hi Jasper, you have to download the mobile app from your smart phone. If you have an iPhone, go to the App Store and search for "Enjoy Fremont." For Android phones, search for it on the Google Play Store.

Why not create a web site that is accessible to both regular and mobile platforms? Why does a special software have to be written for smart phones? They can browse the web like any other computer, right? Why spend money to develop software that will only serve a section of the community and not all of the community? Years ago, getting data on your computer meant loading software. Then the web happened and now the popular way of getting information to people is via the web. Sounds like smart phones are taking a step back.

I agree. I will not have a Smartphone anytime soon, if ever. I would seriously like to see this dining info however.
