Applications Being Accepted to Fill Vacant Hayward City Council Seat

All completed applications must be filed in the Office of the City Clerk by July 16.

Following Hayward City Councilwoman Barbara Halliday's recent election as Mayor, city officials will be accepting applications for a candidate to fill Halliday's vacated council seat, the Hayward City Clerk announced Wednesday. Halliday was sworn into office Tuesday.

There are two years remaining on Halliday's council term.

All interested applicants must complete an application, which is available at the Office of the City Clerk at 777 B St. or online at www.hayward-ca.gov.
 
All completed applications must be filed in the Office of the City Clerk by July 16.
 
Applicants must be residents of incorporated Hayward and qualified voters in the city. The appointment will last until the 2016 General Municipal Election, when a duly elected candidate will take office, according to the clerk's office. The City Council will screen applications, and candidates selected will be scheduled an interview at the council meeting on July 22.

The council may appoint a new member at the end of the meeting.
