A woman in her 40s was struck and killed by a Capitol Corridor passenger train at around 6 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.
According to Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole, the accident occurred while the victim was trespassing along the tracks in Union City and was struck by a southbound train that was heading from Sacramento to San Jose.
The Alameda County corner’s office confirmed that the accident occurred near Railroad Avenue between H and J streets.
Though the victim’s identity was not released, the coroner’s office said the victim is believed to be a female adult in her 40s.
The train was carrying 190 passengers but none suffered any injuries, Cole said. Passengers were taken off of the train and transferred to buses to complete their trip, Cole added.
