Want To Advise The Police Chief?

San Leandro residents are urged to apply for a new police advisory council.

From the San Leandro Police Department:

The San Leandro Police Department is proud to announce the formation of the Police Chief's Advisory Board.

This board is being created as a community resource to help Police Chief Sandra Spagnoli form strategies, develop community policing concepts and increase public awareness measures that are customized for San Leandro.

"Community input and support is essential component of public safety practices and polices," Spagnoli said. "We are fortunate to have tremendous support from the community and I believe that this board will take that level of support to a higher level."

The Board is intended to provide a forum for discussions concerning community concerns and the goal is to have a broad spectrum of viewpoints represented.

The rotating membership of the board is comprised of up to 15 citizens from throughout the community who represent a range of interests and experience.

In addition, we are also seeking up to two youth members to participate in the board.

The meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of every month from 5:30-6:30pm.

Applications are being accepted at this time.  Interested community members can fill out an online application from our website: http://www.sanleandro.org/depts/pd/programs/chiefs_advisory_board.asp

David, that already exists. It's called Alameda, minus the alligators.

Well, I want my 'gators!

No gators, but they do have some new tanks. I wish they'd park one of those babies at the end of my block. Heck, all Alameda really needs is a half dozen canons, gun powder, and Captain Jack Sparrow.

@Marga - Sorry for the late response, was not following responses. I am here to help and learn a/b the city and its politics. I am not the de-facto ambassador for Ursula, but glad she won the election...a recent accomplishment. I think we have a over-due coffee chat...

Ed, I know you are glad Ursula won - otherwise you'd have lost your post in whatever Commission she appointed you to. But really, other than not losing a re-election campaign, giving tons of money and no oversight to the Police Department and buying i-pad for top-staff, can you point out any accomplishments? And if you can't, Ed, why you exactly are you still supporting her? Well, I guess I answered that question on my first sentence.
