Update: A vigil will be held tonight at 9 p.m. on the corner of 11th and D streets, according to relatives.
Police have identified the victims of this weekend’s grisly double homicide as 18-year-old Carlos Estrada-Partida and 21-year-old Daniel Garcia-Sanchez, both of Union City.
According to the Union City Police Department, officers responded to reports of multiple shots fired on the 33400 block of 11th Street at about 1 a.m. Sunday.
Responding officers found both Garcia-Sanchez and Estrada-Partida lying in the roadway.
Garcia-Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Estrada-Partida was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries — just two weeks shy of his 19th birthday.
Garcia-Sanchez and Estrada-Partida were residents of Decoto and close friends who were “pretty much inseparable,” a close friend told Patch.
Their deaths are the first and second homicides of the year in Union City.
News of their deaths left many in the community in shock, with friends taking to Twitter to express their condolences.
No arrests have yet been made in the fatal shootings.
