Update: Coroner IDs Man Killed in Solo Crash Sunday Night

By Bay City News Service

A man killed in a car crash in Hayward on Sunday evening has been identified by the Alameda County coroner's bureau as 21-year-old Omar Alimi.

Police said Alimi, a Hayward resident, was driving erratically heading south on Industrial Parkway Southwest, near the Union City border, when he lost control of his car and crashed at about 7:30 p.m.

Investigators believe he may have lost control while trying to change lanes at a high rate of speed, police said. The car hit a light pole and went down a small embankment, where it came to rest, according to police.

Alimi, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

According to Alimi's Facebook and LinkedIn social media pages, he attended James Logan High School in Union City and graduated in 2010, and was working as a bank teller at a Bank of America in Milpitas. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Hayward police at (510) 293-7000.

^^or maybe the he was just in an accident you scumbag. Don't assume without facts. Have some respect for the kid's life.

That wasn't "just an accident". You want facts? He was driving erratically, not wearing a seat belt. He made stupid choices and now he is dead... Stick your anger where it belongs..

I do apologize for the intoxication/drugs statement. That was pure conjecture and wrong.

21 years of age.....this young man barely began to live his life. My condolences to his family. It would be nice to see one of these NASCAR racer Winners develop a regulated speedway (not for minors~21 & up) where those that "feel the need for speed" to drive fast can do so without killing themselves or endangering others.
