A 24-year-old Union City man who allegedly struck and killed a Marina man in a Hayward crash last year was arrested over the weekend, police said.

Rishi Goswami, now 24, was arrested Saturday at his home in Union City in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on Dec. 26, 2012.

In the incident Goswami was driving a 2005 Ford Mustang at an allegedly high-rate of speed on northbound Hesperian Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. He allegedly failed to stop at a red light at Industrial Parkway and collided with a Nissan Frontier truck that had the right-of-way, police said.

The driver of the Nissan, 53-year-old Michael Saab, was fatally injured in the crash, police said. Another vehicle was struck by debris but the car occupants were not injured, police said.

Goswami had remained at the scene after the crash and cooperated with investigators.

Following an investigation that included numerous witness interviews, Goswami was charged with vehicular manslaughter, police said.

He was booked at the Hayward Jail and is being held on $100,000 bail.
