Two Minors Injured in Accident in Decoto

A helicopter was sent to transport the victims to a nearby hospital.

Two juveniles were airlifted to a nearby hospital and are expected to survive after an accident in the Decoto neighborhood, police said.

According to Sgt. Travis Souza of the Union City Police Department, both of the juveniles were riding a single “pocket bike” miniature motorcycle when they collided with a car near the intersection of 13^th and F streets.

The accident was reported at about 2:07 p.m., according to the Alameda County Fire Department’s PulsePoint app.

The ages of the juveniles were not released.

Though the full extent of the injuries were not released, police said later in the evening that both were expected to survive.

Just before this, these kids shot out around a corner in front of me. Riding around recklessly and I did not notice helmets. I thought to myself that they could have easily been hurt if I wasn't driving so slowly (below speed limit) as a habit through the intersections. Then I got the notification from UC Patch and knew it was these kids. I hope their parents realize how irresponsible it was of them to allow them to ride around like that or even getting them things like that. Thank God they are expected to survive. Praying for a speedy recovery.

I have lived in Decoto for 33 years and the most annoying thing I have ever heard are these kids who race through the streets on these pocket rockets. As soon as school gets out I can hear these kids going up and down the streets . Sometimes when Im outside I see these kids shooting through intersections without any regard for stop signs or traffic. On more than one occasion I have seen near collisions and the kids ride off laughing and going even faster. I ask myself where are the parents and why arent these children wearing any safety gear ? I am glad no one died but what is it going to take to crack down on these kids and their obnoxious pocket rockets.
