Two-Alarm Fire Displaces Family of Six

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

A two-alarm fire displaced a family of six in the Seven Hills neighborhood this morning, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.

The blaze damaged the second floor of a two-story home on the 300 block of Riviera Drive, east of Mission Boulevard, said ACFD spokeswoman Aisha Knowles.

No injuries were reported, according to Knowles. The residents — three adults and three children — were able to evacuate safely before firefighters arrived.

Fire crews responded to the 8:46 a.m. call and contained it within 20 minutes, Knowles said.

“Smoke was billowing out of one of the second-story windows” when firefighters arrived, she said. Residents in the area also reported seeing the smoke from Seventh Street and Mission Boulevard.

The home sustained significant smoke and fire damage on the second floor, she said. The American Red Cross will assist the family as the home is now uninhabitable due to the fire.

A fire investigator was on scene to determine the cause of the blaze, Knowles said.
