The shooting occurred on a busy thoroughfare in the community and police said it's possible there were witnesses to the shooting.

The shooting is also the second homicide in Union City in 2011 and the second in less than a week. On Saturday night, less than a mile away, 34-year-old Union City resident was shot and killed on the 33600 block of Eighth Street.

Police are not sure if the shootings are related or if the crimes were gang-related, Quindoy said.
