UPDATE: One Dead, One Hospitalized in Union City House Fire

Dyer Street was closed between Alvarado-Niles Road and Santa Susanna Way due to the firefighting efforts, according to a Union City Police Nixle Alert.

One person has been killed and another was hospitalized after a house fire in Union City this afternoon, an Alameda County fire spokeswoman said.
 
The one-alarm blaze was reported at 2:59 p.m. in the 3300 block of San Carlos Way, fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said. Knowles said the fire was later extinguished.
 
She did not immediately have more information about the person who died and did not know the extent of injuries suffered by the person taken to the hospital. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, she said.
