A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a hash oil
drug lab explosion that injured him and another person in Fremont last
October, police said Monday.
On Wednesday, Fremont police arrested 20-year-old Ryan Horrigan
following a months-long investigation into an explosion on Oct. 11, 2013, in
the garage of a home in the 4200 block of Canfield Drive.
The blast burned
Horrigan and a juvenile who was in the home at the time of the incident.
Officers secured a warrant for Horrigan's arrest last week and
located him at a residence in the 6000 block of Joaquin Murrieta Avenue in
Police said Horrigan was taken into custody without incident on
suspicion of manufacturing drugs and narcotics and a probation violation.
"This incident is a reminder of the extreme dangers and
consequences that come with the operation of drug labs, including hash oil
conversion labs where oil from marijuana is extracted with the use of highly
flammable butane fuel," Fremont police Sgt. Eric Tang said.
