Robbery Suspects Break Into Home, Assault Residents

The forced-entry robbery and assault occurred at about 3:18 a.m. this morning.

Three adults were injured after three suspects forced their way into their 11th Street home early this morning, police said.

According to the Union City Police Department, the robbery occurred at about 3:18 a.m. when the suspects — described as black male adults wearing black hooded sweatshirts — barged into the home on the 33600 block of 11th Street while the homeowner was smoking a cigarette outside.

The suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun, punched two of the residents and struck the other with a blunt object, said Cmndr. Ben Horner.

The victim who was hit with the blunt object was transported to a local hospital for observation.

The loss from the robbery and the potential motive for the crime was not yet known, Horner said.
