Robberies, Drugs and Domestic Abuse Among Incidents Reported to Police

The following is a collection of incidents reports prepared by the . The document contains only items of note. Dated Feb. 11, the report contains incidents that occurred from Feb. 3 – Feb. 10.

Thursday, Feb. 3

Officers arrested a man and woman who both had warrants out for their arrest. Officers responded to a home on Astor Street after receiving a loud music complaint. Officers knew that a relative of the homeowner had warrants for his arrest for a violent crime, so they set up a perimeter around the house before making contact. When the officers met the homeowner, they discovered that she also had a warrant for her arrest and took her into custody. Meanwhile, others started to jump the back fence into a neighboring yard. One of the subjects was the relative with the warrant and was taken into custody after he fell of a fence in front of awaiting officers.

A person was jumped and beaten until he lost consciousness at on Seventh Street. The victim said he accidentally kicked his soccer ball onto one of the fields that a soccer team was practicing on. An altercation ensued between the victim and one of the players. Soon, more team members jumped in and began to hit and kick them victim, causing him to lose consciousness. The fight ended when the suspects fled the park and the victim went home.

Friday, Feb. 4

Bicycle patrol officers at Union Landing noticed a vehicle parked illegally in a handicap stall with expired registration in front of . The officers searched the vehicle and found 2.3 pounds of marijuana in the trunk. A large amount of money and notes indicating that the subject was selling marijuana resulted in an arrest.

Saturday, Feb. 5

A person was robbed on 8th Street while riding his bicycle. He was confronted by three suspects who, through intimidation, stopped and searched the victim’s pockets and took his wallet and money.

Monday, Feb. 7

An incident of domestic abuse occurred in the evening at a home on Torrey Pine Lane. Upon arrival, officers were greeted at the front door by a female with a bruised eye that was swollen shut. Officers learned that the victim and her husband were involved in a heated argument that escalated when her husband punched her in the face. The suspect was found at the residence and taken into custody for domestic battery.

Later that night, officers were sent to the Pepper Tree Lounge on Whipple Road to investigate a just-occurred battery. While on their way, officers were advised that two drunk suspects had fled in a vehicle. An officer saw the suspect vehicle weaving in and out of traffic on Whipple Road and made an enforcement stop. The driver was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol and the passenger was arrested for being drunk in public. The victim’s of the battery at the Pepper Tree Lounge declined to press charges and wished no further police involvement.

Wednesday, Feb. 9

A person was robbed in the evening by two suspects with a knife. The victim was walking in the area of Meridian Circle when he was confronted by the suspects, who took his property and ran away.

Thursday, Feb. 10

A man broke into a home on Farrol Avenue. The suspect rang the doorbell of the residence twice before climbing through a front window. When he entered the home, he encountered a female resident who screamed. The suspect fled out of the window from which he entered. He was described as a dark-skinned male, 18 to 23 years old.

A solicitor was robbed outside of the Food Maxx on Industrial Parkway. The suspect sprayed the solicitor with pepper spray and stole the victim’s collection box. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.
