Purse Snatching, Domestic Battery and Burglary Among Incidents Reported to Police

The following is a collection of incident reports prepared by the . The document contains only items of note. Dated Feb. 17, the report contains incidents that occurred from Feb. 10 – Feb. 16.

Thursday, Feb. 10

An officer conducting a security check at the on the corner of Alvarado Boulevard and Dyer Street noticed a suspicious person in the area. The officer parked and conducted surveillance. He saw various people approaching the person for some sort of transaction. The officer stopped the subject and found that he had an outstanding arrest warrant. He was arrested and found with 4.4 grams of marijuana.

Saturday, Feb. 12

A drunk man found lying in a gutter near Central Ave was arrested after officers found .5 grams of methamphetamine on him. The officers had received a report about two people staggering in the area. When they arrived, they only found one person, who was intoxicated and unable to take care of himself.

Later that night, a patrol officer saw a car speeding and driving erratically near Whipple Road and Central Avenue. The officer stopped the vehicle and found the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested without incident.

Sunday, Feb. 13

A man hit his girlfriend in the face and shoved her teenage daughter in a closet at a residence on Mission Boulevard. When officers arrived, the suspect had already fled. The victim told officers that her live-in boyfriend struck her in the face, which caused a minor injury. He then shoved her teenage daughter into a closet to keep her from calling police, she said. The case was sent to the district attorney’s office as a domestic battery complaint.

Tuesday, Feb. 15

Two people were arrested for residential burglary after a resident in the area of Cameron Drive reported that two suspicious subjects had entered a neighbor’s backyard. Officers arrived and set up a perimeter. The suspects were seen trying to walk away from the area and detained.

An elderly woman became the victim of another purse snatching in the parking lot on the corner of Alvarado Boulevard and Dyer Street. The victim was walking through the parking lot when an unknown suspect grabbed her purse, forcing it out of her grasp. He then escaped in a waiting vehicle.

Officers then responded to the area of Brenda Way near Medallion Drive to investigate another robbery. The victim and his wife were walking in the area when a suspect approached them and pointed a handgun at the victim. The suspect demanded and took the victim’s watch before fleeing on foot.

Wednesday, Feb. 16

A burglary occurred at a home on Delores Drive on Wednesday night. The victim arrived home to find the suspect inside. They exchanged words before the suspect fled to a nearby vehicle.

Later in the evening, a man beat his mother until she was unconscious. Officers reported to the Green Haven Apartments on Alvarado Boulevard and determined that the suspect had battered his mother, causing her to lose consciousness. Officers called for medical assistance and the mother was taken to a local hospital for treatment. While officers were waiting for the ambulance, the suspect returned to the apartment. Officers had to use physical force because the suspect resisted arrest. The suspect was transported to Fremont Jail without any injuries.
