Update: Armed Robbery at Supermercado Guadalajara

Police set up a perimeter but weren't able to locate the suspect.

Police have called off a search for a man who robbed a Union City grocery storeΒ  earlier tonight.

According to the Union City Police Department, the armed robbery took place at about 8:05 p.m. at Supermercado Guadalajara, located at 33909 10th St. in the Decoto neighborhood.

Witnesses said the suspect may have fled into a neighboring yard, said Sgt. Steve Mendez.

Police set up a perimeter and called in for helicopter support but were unable to locate the suspect, Mendez said.

The suspect was described as a black male in his 20s, about 6-feet tall wearing dark clothing and carrying a black handgun.
