On May, 30 2012, four men went in the Gold N' Treasures jewelry store on San Ramon Valley Boulevard with the intent to rob the store.

One of the men, Kibrom Bairu, an 18-year-old Hayward resident who worked at a popular Union City coffee shop, was shot and later died after he brandished a gun and was shot by the store's owner, Everett Parvin, according to police.
