A six-year veteran of the Union City police force resigned Friday, two weeks after being convicted of one count of misdemeanor lewd conduct in public, according to media reports.
The conviction stemmed from a Feb. 11 incident when two women accused 37-year-old officer Sean Mace of exposing himself inside of a Fremont home, according to the Fremont Argus.
Mace, a Solano County resident who also worked as a fitness consultant, was invited to the home to discuss fitness with two women, ages 41 and 52. At some point during the meeting, Mace exposed his genitals, the Argus reports. He was asked to leave and the women later reported the incident to Fremont police.
The Union City Police Department put Mace on paid administrative while the agency and the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office conducted separate investigations of the alleged misconduct, authorities told the Argus.
Mace was arrested April 23.
He entered his plea on Aug. 16 and was sentenced to three years of probation. He was also ordered to stay away from the women and pay an $800 fine, according to the Argus.
