Early in the morning, officers received a call from Ernie’s Liquors at Dyer Street and Alvarado Boulevard about a person who appeared to be covered in blood and possibly under the influence of drugs in front of the store. Arriving officers determined the suspect was intoxicated to the point of being unable to care for his own safety, the report said. The suspect also wasn’t covered in his own blood but likely that of a friend at the Greenhaven Apartments. Though neither the suspect nor his friend were cooperative, it appeared that the suspect and his friend might have been jumped by another group of individuals, the report said. The friend was transported to Kaiser Hayward for treatment to a laceration above his eye, which he stated he got from falling down the stairs.  The suspect was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.  No other involved parties were located.
