Police Log: Resident Stabbed in Face With Fork; Woman Arrested With Counterfeit Bills

Reports also include multiple drug and drunk driving arrests.

The following is a collection of reports prepared by the Union City Police Department. The document contains only items of note that occurred Oct. 18 - 24. Reports have been lightly edited for Patch style.

THURSDAY, OCT. 18

Red light-running bicyclist busted with 16 grams of weed

At about 4:07 p.m., an officer patrolling the area of Whipple Road and Central Avenue saw a bicyclist ride through the intersection against the red light in the middle of traffic. The officer made an enforcement stop and determined that the subject had 15.9 grams of marijuana in his backpack. Additional evidence including small baggies and a scale led to an arrest on suspicion of possession and transportation of marijuana for sales.

Teens arrested after fight at Dollar Tree

Shortly after at 4:22 p.m., officers responded to Dollar Tree located at 1720 Decoto Rd. to investigate an in-progress fight between two Logan students. The combatants separated upon the arrival of the officers. Both were arrested on suspicion of battery. One was also arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs after officers located nine doses of ecstasy.

Two arrested for possession of meth behind FoodMaxx

Later this night at about 11:30 p.m., officers were on routine patrol in the alley behind FoodMaxx when they came across two subjects. The first was known to be on searchable probation and found to have methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his possession. The second subject was contacted in a parked car backed into a secluded corner of the parking lot. The second subject was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

FRIDAY, OCT. 19

Ruth Way home burglarized

Between 8:30 and 9:15 p.m., unknown suspect(s) burglarized a home on the 4600 block of Ruth Way. The suspect(s) made entry to the residence via the rear sliding glass door. A neighbor saw a suspicious vehicle speed away from the area and described it as a 2001 Dodge Ram pick-up truck. This vehicle may or may not be associated to this incident

SATURDAY, OCT. 20

Drunk driver crashes into parked cars

At about 6 a.m., officers responded to the area of Meteor Drive and Endeavor Way to investigate a report of a vehicle collision. Arriving officers found that an intoxicated driver had driven his vehicle into several parked cars. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Resident stabbed in face with fork

Officers responded to a residence on the 4200 block of Comet Circle to investigate a possible stabbing with a fork shortly after 12:30 p.m. Arriving officers found the victim being treated by Paramedic Plus Ambulance service for an injury to the face. The investigating officer found that the victim and suspect knew each other and had been involved in a heated argument that led up to the fork attack. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and declined to be transported to a medical facility. The suspect was located nearby and arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

SUNDAY, OCT. 21

Woman arrested after trying to pass counterfeit bills at hotel

On Sunday night, officers responded to the Extended Stay Hotel located at the Union Landing Shopping Center to investigate a report of a person passing counterfeit money. Arriving officers spoke to the hotel clerk and examined the currency. They determined the currency to be counterfeit and continued their investigation by contacting the hotel guest who presented the currency. The hotel guest was found to be in possession of additional counterfeit currency, methamphetamine, and had an active warrant for her arrest. She was arrested on suspicion of various charges and transported to jail.

MONDAY, OCT. 22

Avalon apartment burglarized

An officer was sent to an apartment at the Avalon Apartment complex to investigate a burglary. The victim advised that he and his wife went to bed at midnight. Sometime about 2 a.m. he was awakened by his dog barking but fell back to sleep. At about 9:30 a.m., he discovered that someone had entered his residence via the sliding glass door and burglarized it while he and his wife slept.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 24

Cars burglarized at Union Landing

Between 6:10 p.m. and 9:25 p.m., unknown suspect(s) burglarized two vehicles parked in the Tony Roma’s parking lot at the Union Landing Shopping Center. The suspect(s) broke a side window to the vehicles to make entry. Electronics in plain view were stolen.
