Masked bandit robs phone store

SATURDAY, MAY 4

A not-so-loving neighbor

A resident on Petunia Court woke up at 8:45 a.m. to find a neighbor standing in the upstairs hallway of his home. The victim asked the suspect why he was in his home. The suspect said he saw an open back window of the home and that he was concerned about the victim’s elderly parents, so he climbed through the window to check things out. The victim escorted the neighbor out of the home and noticed that the home was ransacked with several items missing.

The victim reported the incident to police. An officer interviewed the neighbor, who admitted entering the victim’s home. A search warrant was obtained and several of the victim’s stolen items were found inside the suspect’s home. The suspect was arrested.

MONDAY, MAY 6

Crouching transient, bad intentions

City of Union City employees spotted a man crouching and hiding between two cars in the gated police department parking lot at around 10 a.m. Officers contacted the man, a transient from Union City who has been arrested in the past for entering and tampering with police cars. The suspect was arrested before he was able to enter any vehicles.

TUESDAY, MAY 7

Woman arrested following home burglary

Officers responded to San Carlos Way at around 9:20 a.m. to investigate a home burglary. Witnesses reported seeing one female and three male suspects in the area. Authorities set up a perimeter around the area and began conducting door-to-door searches. During that time, the female suspect sought refuge inside a nearby residence, telling homeowners that he was being chased by a man. When police arrived at the home, the woman tried pleading with the homeowner not to let officers in. The homeowner, however, allowed the police to enter.

The suspect claimed to be pregnant and said that she broke a leg after falling off a fence, so she was transported to a hospital where a ID and credit cards were found in her underwear. The stolen items were linked to an auto burglary in San Leandro and the suspect was arrested.

Man gets frisky with himself in Dollar Tree parking lot

A passerby got more than great savings at the Dollar Tree on Decoto Road. The witness reported seeing a man masturbating while sitting in front in his white Pontiac Trans Am parked in front of the store. The incident occurred at about 5:22 p.m. Officers responded to the scene, detained and identified the suspect. However, the witness declined prosecution so the suspect was not arrested. The incident was documented and sent to investigators for follow-up.
