Police Log: Man Beats Girlfriend, Attempts to Rape Her at Union Landing Hotel

Recent police reports also include an assault and attempted armed robbery at Crowne Plaza Hotel, a theft suspect being arrested with a loaded firearm and a number of other incidents.

 Thursday, April 12

Man beats girlfriend, attempts to rape her at Union Landing

Authorities received numerous 9-1-1 calls about a domestic violence incident occurring at the located at 31950 Dyer St. The altercation carried over into the parking lot where the female broke free and wound up in the lobby of the Century 25 Theaters.

Arriving officers detained the suspect as he was walking back to the Extended Stay. The female had significant injuries from being punched in the face.

Through the course of the investigation, the officer learned that the couple had been engaged in an argument over their relationship. The male suspect then battered the victim and attempted to rape her.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and attempted sexual assault.

Friday, April 13

Note to stoners: don’t smoke weed in public places

Officers were sent to investigate a report of people smoking marijuana in a parking garage located at 33325 Mission Blvd. Officers detained three subjects and, when asked if they had any marijuana, one of the subjects handed over a joint and a sandwich bag containing additional marijuana. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of sales of marijuana after additional evidence connecting him to sales was located.

Domestic disturbance on 9th Street

Later in the night, officers responded to a home on the 33000 block of 9th St. to investigate a domestic disturbance. Arriving officers were greeted by the female victim, who advised officers that she and her husband had been involved in an argument that escalated when he began to batter her. The victim sustained visible injuries to her neck and facial area. The investigating officer arrested the husband on suspicion of domestic battery and transported him to Fremont Jail.

Drunk driver arrested after being pulled over for not having rear license plate

Also on Friday night, an officer on routine patrol in the area of Central Avenue and Atlantic Avenue saw a vehicle being driven without a rear license plate. The officer made an enforcement stop and contacted the driver who had a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person and slurred his words as he spoke. The officer arrested the driver on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol after failing a series of field sobriety tests.

Saturday, April 14

Trespassers shoot BB gun on railroad tracks

A resident in the area of 1000 Amber Terrace reported seeing two males shooting a gun in the area of the railroad tracks behind the apartments. Responding officers contacted two subjects in the area who admitted to shooting a BB gun. The BB gun was a realistic replica of a Glock semi-automatic pistol. The subjects were cited for trespassing on railroad property and voluntarily surrendered the BB gun for destruction.

Theft suspect found with loaded gun in car

Also on Saturday, an officer on routine patrol in the area of Dyer Street and Courthouse Drive saw a vehicle matching the description of a theft suspect out of the store. The vehicle also had a bald tire, so the officer made an enforcement stop. The driver gave the officer a false name in an attempt to hide the fact that he had a suspended driver’s license. A search of the vehicle revealed a concealed loaded handgun under the front driver’s seat. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of possession of a concealed loaded firearm and driving on a suspended driver’s license.

Assault and attempted armed robbery at Crowne Plaza Hotel parking lot

Later this night, a couple was parking their vehicle in the parking lot when a black male adult ran up to the male victim and pointed a handgun at him demanding his wallet. The victim told the suspect that he did not have a wallet on him. The suspect then struck the victim in the face with the gun, ran to an awaiting black car — possibly a Chevy — and drove off.

Sunday, April 15

Speeding driver arrested with handgun, 6.6 grams of meth

On Sunday night, an officer on routine patrol saw a vehicle speeding and weaving in and out of traffic lanes in the area of Dyer Street and Regents Boulevard. The officer made an enforcement stop of the vehicle and contacted the driver who appeared very nervous. The subject lied to the officer about the fact that he was on searchable probation and then refused to follow the officer’s commands to show him his hands. The officer detained the subject and later found a concealed handgun under the seat and 6.6 grams of methamphetamine for which the suspect was arrested for.
