Police Log: Juveniles Robbed at Gunpoint Behind 7-Eleven; Woman Carjacked by Ex-Boyfriend

Reports also include a 4-year-old being struck by a car and man being arrested after a car chase.

The following is a collection of reports prepared by the Union City Police Department. The document contains only items of note that occurred Nov.1-7. Reports have been lightly edited for Patch style.

THURSDAY, NOV. 1

4-year-old girl hit by car

At about 2:52 p.m., officers responded to a the area of Whitehall Lane and Claremont Street to investigate a 4-year-old girl being hit by a car. Officers determined the girl had run into the street as a car was traveling southbound on Claremont Street. The child was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Just under an hour later at 3:38 p.m., officers responded to the area of Courthouse Drive and Dyer to investigate another pedestrian-vehicle accident. A woman crossing the street in the crosswalk was hit by a car exiting Union Landing. The woman was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

FRIDAY, NOV. 2

Woman carjacked by ex-boyfriend

A woman reported that she was carjacked by her ex-boyfriend early Friday morning at about 1:55 a.m. The victim went to the police station and told an officer that she returned to hear apartment complex near Kennedy Park and was parking her car in her stall when her ex showed up. He pulled her out of her car and stole it, she told the officer. The case was sent to the District Attorney’s office for review and possible charges.

Juvenile assaults, robs another for cell phone

At about 4:20 p.m., two juveniles got off a UC Transit bus near the area of Rockline Drive and Antioch Street. One of the juveniles struck the other, took his cell phone, and ran off. Officers are following leads in the case.

Railroad Avenue home burglarized.

Between 1:30 and 4 p.m., unknown suspect(s) burglarized a residence on the 33000 block of Railroad Avenue. The suspect(s) made entry to the residence by prying open the rear sliding glass door. The loss was electronics equipment.

Domestic battery suspect arrested

Later this night at about 11:37 p.m., officers were in the process of completing a traffic stop in the area of Mission Boulevard and Lafayette Avenue when they heard a woman screaming for help. The officers went to investigate and saw that the woman appeared upset and trying to get away from a male subject.

The officers ordered the male subject to stop and come talk to the officers, but he refused and began to walk away briskly. The officers caught up to the subject, but then he turned around and took a fighting stance. The officers had to physically take the subject to the ground and detain him so they could sort out what had occurred.

Officers learned that the couple were previously in a dating relationship and had been arguing all night. The female wished to leave and he would not allow her to and at some point struck her. The male half was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, domestic battery and resisting arrest.

SATURDAY, NOV. 3

Jaywalking juvenile found with 52 grams of pot

At about 3:12 p.m., an officer stopped a group of juveniles who were jaywalking in front of traffic in the area of Dyer Street and Alvarado Boulevard. The officer searched the suspects and found one of them had 52 grams of marijuana and additional evidence that resulted in the juvenile being arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sales.

TUESDAY, NOV. 6

Juveniles robbed at gunpoint behind 7-Eleven

At about 7:22 a.m., officers responded to the 7-Eleven store located at 32215 Alvarado-Niles Rd. to investigate an armed robbery. Two male juveniles were walking on the paved walking trail behind the store when they were confronted by two black male juveniles and one black female juvenile. One of the subjects pointed a gun at the victims and took their cell phones.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 7

Man leads officers on car chase because he had a suspended license

Early in the morning at about 1:15 a.m., an officer was on routine patrol in the area of Smith and Fredi streets when he saw a vehicle fail to stop for the stop sign. The officer attempted to make an enforcement stop, but the driver kept going. The suspect attempted to evade the officer by driving down San Carlos Way and through Casa Verde Park, but collided into a parked car on the other side on San Juan Place. The officer held the subject at gunpoint until additional officers arrived and took him into custody on suspicion of evading a police officer and driving a vehicle on a suspended driver’s license, which was the reason the driver gave for attempting to evade the officer.
