The following is a summary of significant crime and incidents reported in Union City between Sept. 28 and Oct. 1 as released by the Union City Police Department. Reports have been lightly edited for Patch style.
Tuesday, Oct. 1
- Elderly man accused of inappropriately touching 6-year-old. Officers were sent to a home on 11th Street at about 6 p.m. on a report of an elderly male suspect who allegedly touched a 6-year-old inappropriately. Officers located and arrested a 77-year-old Union City resident at the scene. According to police, an additional victim has come forward since the first incident was reported. Anyone with information regarding the case is urged to contact the Union City Police Department.
Monday, Sept. 30
- Union City police help arrest armed and dangerous suspects. Members of the Major Crimes Task Force, the Union City/Newark SWAT team and Union City investigations unit tracked down wanted suspects Rolando Candia, 27, and Alexandria Ochoa, 24, to the America’s Best Value Inn in Milpitas. Both Candia and Ochoa were believed to be armed and dangerous. As the couple exited their motel room, they were greeted by fully equipped SWAT officers and were arrested without resistance. The investigation led to the recovery of multiple rifles and handguns, including a loaded assault rifle with a high capacity magazine. Officers also located numerous stolen items and controlled substances. Both were arrested on various weapons, theft and drug charges.
Saturday, Sept. 28
- What are you two talking about? Officers responded to a commercial burglary alarm at 2:45 p.m. at Jensen Mechanical, located at 32420 Central Ave. Responding officers snuck up on two male suspects near the rear fence of the property. The two suspects were wearing gloves and whispering to each other as officers arrived. The suspects were found to be in possession of burglary tools and placed under arrest.
