“The Police Blotter highlights a hand grenade being located at a residence.  While recovering hand grenades is not very common, finding suspicious packages or items is not uncommon.  I would suggest that you make every attempt to avoid moving or handling suspicious or dangerous items.  For example, the recovered hand grenade was picked up by residents and moved into their backyard, prior to police arrival.  I would not recommend moving explosives or suspicious packages unless absolutely necessary.  Some explosives degrade over time and become unstable.  Simply moving some explosives can cause them to detonate.  Additionally, handling any suspicious items could destroy valuable evidence.” — Cmdr. Ben Horner
