Authorities have identified six of the seven people slain in Monday in Oakland that shook the Bay Area.
According to Alameda County Sheriff's Department spokesman J.D. Nelson, the victims are:
- Doris Chibuko, 40, of San Leandro;
- Sonam Choedon, 33, of El Cerrito;
- , 23, of Union City;
- Judith O. Seymore, 53, of San Jose;
- , 21, of Hayward; and
- Bhutia Tshering, 38, of San Francisco.
The identity of the seventh victim, a woman, has not yet been released pending notification of her relatives.
According to Oakland police Chief Howard Jordan, shooting suspect One (also spelled Wan in some media accounts) Goh had been expelled from Oikos University for behavioral issues. The 43-year-old Korean national was looking for a particular female administrator at the school before the 10:30 a.m. shooting.
Goh was also upset with several students, Jordan said, for how they allegedly treated him.
The seven people killed at the school were mainly students, Jordan said. One of the deceased was employed as a secretary. Several of the victims were from different countries, including Korea and Nigeria.
San Francisco International Airport spokesman Mike McCarron said
Tshering was an airport employee. He had worked as a custodian there
since March 2008, McCarron said.
Jordan said that police have not yet recovered the gun used in the killings, which left three other people injured. They are expected to survive.
Goh is being held at Santa Rita Jail on charges of murder and kidnapping. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in Oakland.
A vigil for victims of the shooting is scheduled to be held at 6 p.m. today at Allen Temple Baptist Church, 8709 International Blvd. in Oakland.
