A man exposed his penis to a teenage girl as she was walking home from James Logan High School early Monday evening, according to the New Haven Unified School District.
The incident occurred at about 5 p.m. when the girl was walking in the area of G Street and Mission Boulevard. She was contacted by a male suspect who was driving a white four-door Lexus SUV. The male called her over and then exposed himself, said John Mattos, coordinator of district safety, in an automated message circulated Tuesday.
The girl ran from the area.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male with short, spiky hair and goatee, according to the message.
A similar flashing incident was reported the morning of March 12 when a suspect exposed his penis to a 77-year-old woman at Mariner Park.
In an unrelated incident also on Monday, a male suspect was seen taking photos of female students with his cell phone in the Safeway Shopping Center on Decoto Road at around 3:30 p.m.
The man would walk up to the female students, ask them to smile and snap their picture, according to the district.
When the suspect was confronted, he fled, Mattos said in his message.
The automated message was circulated Tuesday as a safety precaution for students and parents.
Mattos reminded parents to tell their children to be aware with their surroundings, walk with a friend and to tell parents if they will be home late or taking a different route home. Mattos also advised students to walk without headphones or earbuds so that they can be more aware of what’s happening around them.
The Union City Police Department is aware of both Monday incidents and will increase patrol in those areas, Mattos said.
